Article 100 — The Guardian of Future Generations

An independent Guardian of Future Generations shall be established with the constitutional duty to represent the interests of those not yet born in all matters of legislation, public spending, environmental policy, and long-term national planning. The Guardian shall be appointed by the Citizens’ Assembly established in Article 100, shall serve a fixed term with security of tenure, and shall have the constitutional standing to challenge any unfunded constitutional commitment before the Constitutional Court under the provisions of Article 86. The Guardian’s findings and challenges shall be public.
