Every Native Irish citizen has the right to keep and bear arms for the defence of themselves, their family, their home, and their nation. This right shall be regulated to ensure that those who bear arms are trained, competent, and of sound mind, but it shall not be abolished or made so restrictive as to be meaningless. A people who cannot defend themselves are a people who depend entirely on the goodwill of those who govern them.
