The work of raising children, caring for elderly or disabled family members, and maintaining a home is real work of genuine value to society, regardless of whether it is paid. The state shall recognise this work through pension credits, social welfare provisions, and other supports that ensure no person is left without security in later life because they devoted years to caring for their family rather than to paid employment.
